We built the AI Factory
South Africa needed.
FirstCoreAI exists because the way most businesses were adopting AI — routing their most sensitive data through foreign infrastructure they didn't control — was never going to hold. The capability was real. The trade-off wasn't acceptable.
So we built the alternative: a sovereign AI Factory, hosted in South Africa, where enterprises get the performance of modern AI without exporting their data or their cost base. We own the compute. We do the engineering. And we sit inside one of the country's established technology groups, which means we'll still be here for the renewal.
We're not an API wrapper, and we're not a hyperscaler reseller. We're the people who run the infrastructure, choose the models on evidence, and build the solutions on top — all under one roof, all on home soil.
A startup's pace. A group's backing.
FirstCoreAI moves like a focused AI venture, because it is one. But it's a business unit of FirstNet — the data-centre, connectivity, and ISP arm of the First Technology Group. That distinction matters when you're trusting a partner with production infrastructure and regulated data.
It means the AI Factory sits inside data centres FirstNet operates, on networks FirstNet operates. The same engineers who run our connectivity and DC services run the substrate the GPUs sit on. When a workload needs the network tuned, or the rack scaled, or a cross-connect lit — it's the same team, not a vendor escalation.
It also means real financial backing, not runway anxiety; enterprise support structures that already exist; and people who've delivered infrastructure, cloud, and managed services in the South African market for over three decades. When you put a workload onto the AI Factory, you're putting it on a foundation that's been here a long time and will be here for the next contract.
How we handle your data.
Workloads run on FirstCoreAI infrastructure are processed inside South Africa. We design our endpoints, retention, and access controls to align with the obligations under POPIA — and we tell you plainly when a particular workload (for example, a frontier-model call) would mean data leaving the country, so you can make the call deliberately.

Want to meet the team?
We'll happily walk you through the platform, the people, and the work in production.
